Experience behind the work
What a course choice means beyond its name.
Admissions and higher-education work, including engineering admissions, brought recurring family decisions into focus across different courses and study pathways. Students and parents needed to weigh interests, aptitude and strengths, goals, college fit and family constraints together.
Engineering courses and specialisations are an important example of that experience, not the sole focus of Spoken Careers. Across pathways, choosing a course means understanding its syllabus, the institution and the work it may lead towards. A popular specialisation is one option to examine, not a substitute for that research.
Through hundreds of students and parents counselled each year, a recurring need became clear: families needed a way to frame the decision, compare realistic options and understand what they had yet to find out. Career Decision Intelligence builds on those admissions conversations; it does not recast all of his higher-education experience as career counselling.

Spoken Careers exists to help families slow down, frame the actual decision and compare realistic pathways. The aim is to identify what is understood, what remains uncertain and what evidence would help next.

Spoken Careers supports students from Grade 8 onward, through subject and stream choices, further education, university/course selection, and early-career direction. Families can explore school subjects and streams, undergraduate programmes, courses and specialisations, institutions and universities, and possible career directions.
These decisions span engineering, commerce, sciences, humanities, business and other fields. The principal focus is on 17–21-year-olds designing future-ready pathways, while the wider audience extends from school through university and early-career decisions. The starting point is the decision the family faces, not a single stream, age band or curriculum.
